TATA- TDI?
Hi All,
I was talking with a LR enthusiast this week. He said TATA is going to produce a completely utilitarian version of the Discovery (LR3)- powered with a TDI for the US market. Manual windows, locks, seats.... back to the basics.
I visited the TATA site but found nothing to confirm this.
Does anyone have any info on the subject?

Once GM goes under is our military going to use Defenders too?

As for a back to basics LR3, that would be a dream come true. I also think TATA should introduce a rugged LR3, like a model that comes with racks, brush guards, aux lights, and sliders/off road protection. You know, something special for us enthusiasts! I think LR's future is bright, as long as TATA doesnt cut corners.

I agree with you 100% Cam, and living in MI that is all we hear on the news. I listen to NPR in the afternoons and the "big three" asked for 34 billion, they got 15.
It costs GM 3 billion per month just to pay operating expenses. Without this money they were going to lock the doors on Jan 2nd.
They are selling Saab. Ford is selling Volvo and Mazda. Chrysler is done, wont last through 2009. They are looking to sell Jeep, Viper and the Challenger as brands of their own.
GM is also down sizing, getting rid of Satuen, making Pontiac a "speciallty" brand and either dumping GMC or Chevy trucks.
Ford is going to bring some of its European cars and vans to the US. The Transit van would ROCK! Very similar to the Sprinter by Mercedes Benz.
I really hope they do make it, the big three, no less than 3 million Americans out of work if they go under.

I would be interested in one if they had a solid front axle.
A big 3 bailout will just be delaying the inevitable if there aren't major UAW concessions..those UAW contracts are like a weight around their necks. The auto industry here in the south is surviving because there are no U N I O N S

But the UAW is making sacrafices, they now have co-pays on their health insurance. Like that is a big sacrafice.
They are going to suspend the job bank though.
I want them to survive, but I agree that they wont. They were worried about making money when the others were working for the future.
You know that Honda and Toyota will have hybrid mini vans in the next couple of years.
People are tired of the crap that the big three make and now it is coming back to bite them in the butt.
