Just replace the front cover and oil pump Snowdude.
You will then be good for another 60k.
That should be around $1500 to have it done.

Like the sense of optimism, Boss. SnowDude, my $50 offer to partially sponsor your front cover job still stands. Try to hit up others on the forum. Maybe we could offset your cost for one from AB if you provide a detailed DIY and six months of follow up reporting...Paypal awaits. It's worth it to me to know what I can expect from mine in a year or so.
I wouldn't expect the scan gauge to tell you

x2: Scangauge does not give oil pressure. You need to add an after market oil pressure gauge. You can get the M12 x 1.5 to 1/8 adapter at Gloshift for a couple of $ and an oil pressure gauge at HF for $20, a very cheap project to give you great value. You could also get the oil filter sandwich and oil pressure gauge at Gloshift for a whole lot more $$, but I don't like that sandwich thing.

Tom thanks for your offer, ill let you know if I decide to replace it myself. Bearcat, what millage did you replace yours? I was reading when they go at high millage its an un-band aid able problem. Maybe those people were just retards though.

How do you get the front cover off LOL? Ive never done any serious mechanic work with the power train on the disco. Ive done quite abit with my Volvo XC70 regretfully though.

I still need to replace the front drive shaft, however I did the 60k service over the year I bought it at 89k, it was dealer serviced to the books up until then by my uncles secretary. They took it on a trip to from Wisconsin to Alaska and back, I have some really cool pictures from them ill have to upload someday.

Snowdude, I am up in GreenLake WI now. If you can get a used or new front cover soon. I would drive over and help you figure it out Thursday or Friday of this week. I have disassembled a 2004 engine already pulled from a Disco. I think with 2 people it could be done in under 10/12 hours. 2nd day air that oil gear or cover from AB and I'm serious, I will come help you for free of course!

Good to know...I thought it would. Yes, I'm going to get an oil pressure gauge ASAP. I want to make it look as discreet as possible...if anybody has any pics I'd love to check em...

Awesome! Wouldn't happen to have taken any pics of the process?

Boss, Thanks You SO MUCH for your offer, this community continues to dazzle me as the best car community I've ever seen. My first thought after reading your post was my lack of tools. My garage is pretty featureless, I don't even have an air compressor, and my old jack lift is broken lol! I used to do the work at my school shop, but the old teacher left, and I don't get along the best with the new one. The other problem is I'm heading to Door County on Thursday with the Volvo, if I had adequate tools however I would consider staying home.

I'm thinking I might just find someone to replace the front cover, The dealer (who is think I have a good relationship with) quoted my only $1000 parts and labor for the front cover replacement. I plan on seeing what some of my local mechanics say, although there about as experienced with land rovers as the royal family is with garbage picking. Its a buick sourced motor, which makes me thing maybe i should take it to the GM specialized guy (who worked at our local Buick dealer for 30 years until it closed).

Whatever I do, of course ill be back posting the answer, positive or negative.
