So driving home today, listening to the radio, all of sudden it goes quiet and "Telephone" displays on the radio. Never saw this before, so that's weird. Didn't even know they had a circuit in the radio for that at that time (2000 MY). No buttons function, either on the steering wheel or radio. Turned radio off, back on, still there. Restarted truck, back to normal.

Very strange...

You probably hit the mute button on the steering wheel controls

 

I tried to make the same thing happen on mine, no luck. Have you cycled the mode using the mode button on your steering wheel?

 

Rolling along and sound started going in and out with telephone coming and going on the display, finally stayed with no sound. No buttons changed anything until key cycle. Just weird.

 

mine (also 2000my cassette) starting doing this today, fading in and out, has 2 icons on the far right side and died for an hour. Might try swapping a new head unit in
