Terrafirma Steering linkage
Hmm I believe they rod ends are the same size as any LR sized ends if that makes sense. TF did not change the thread size.

now finding useful info on AB's site good luck for right/left hand threaded.

I ended up contacting Terra Firma and this is the response that I received.
In particular, please see the red highlight below. I have also gone back to Terra Firma to ask if they can identify which of their TF255s were supplied with the either the RTC-version (Defender) or QFS-version (Discovery) tie rod ends, e.g., is there is date of manufacture stamp or production mark that can help us know which tie rod end to order as replacements?

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the enquiry.
TF255 utilises Defender track rod ends for ease of replacement, in left & right thread versions, you’ll need two each of the following:
RTC5869 RH thread
RTC5870 LH thread
Both part numbers should be readily available from any LR specialist in a variety of qualities, if possible, opt a ones with grease nipples.
One point to note: during the pandemic, we temporarily resourced TF255 and these used Discovery 2 track rod ends – the thread pitch in the bar itself is different. If this is what you have, you’ll need two each of part numbers QFS000010 & QFS000010RH.

More from Terra Firma.

Hi Andrew,
The only ways to tell are:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Very approximately, March to October 2020 is when they arrived here (Disco tie rod ends instead of Defender ties rod ends). Last batch of the TF255 with D2 track rod ends were all sold by end of October.
Lucky 8 IN New York state bought 30 in mid-October 2020, they’d have arrived in November and would have probably taken a couple of months to sell all of them?
Any purchased from January 2021 onwards are almost certainly fitted with Defender track rod ends unless they purchased from a stockist who had old stock.

Hi Andrew,
The only ways to tell are:
- If you still have the packaging, there would be an Allmakes / TF label with a batch date on it, this will enable me to confirm the supplier & hence, the track rod end part numbers.
- Measure the thread pitch with a pitch gauge,
- Take a steering rod to an LR specialist to see if an RTC5869 or RTC5870 will screw in. If so, all good. If not, you need QFS000010 & QFS000010RH.
