Default Valley Pan off should I clean rockers and heads ?

Just pulled the valley pan on my 01 Disco with 103k miles to fix a rear coolant leak and its pretty dirty in the heads and valley, should I pull and clean the rockers/shafts and check the lifters ? If so what's the best method to clean ?

Any other recommendations "while Im here" ?

Only if you plan to pull the heads to do so. Otherwise you'll end up knocking chunks loose and losing them in the oil pan to get sucked back thru the motor.

I would never take one down that far and not do HG unless they were just done. You only have the rockers, headbolts, and exhaust manifolds to go. Maybe 15 mins disassembly and 1 hr assembly.

My favorite mechanic says gasoline is the best cleaner, although it is a fire hazard. I have seen internet guys us oven cleaner very effectively, just make sure it gets completely removed from tight fitting spaces.

Definitely check the lifters while you are there, should be within 4 mil of flat. The black color indicates there could be significant amount of wear.
