Thermostat
How offer are owners.changing there thermostat in there disco ? Mine has 115,000 and has never been changed .. I think I going to change mine due to the temp is running a little high around 210 deg. I think it should be around 190 deg . I have flushed the whole system thinking that may lower the temp but did not . Also just put a new water pump on last month . And viscous fan has resistance .. ?
I would change the t-stat everytime you do a tune up, so every 60k or so, its cheap insurance.
I replace mine everytime I have the cooling system open for any reason but then again my t-stat is only $10.

See this about D2 stat. https://landroverforums.com/forum/at...mostat-005-jpg
There are four little holes that move hot water into stat to make it operate. If they are clogged, it would shift operating point up, as it would take longer for hot water to reach stat.
Good point you made about clutch resistance, it should feel like peanut butter inside, not PB Blaster. When engine is warmed up, it should not spin by hand for more than 1 revolution. Wimpy clutch will have poor cooling at idle and slow speeds.
How did you get 210 figure, and what was it at 40 - 60 mph?
