I bought my '01 D2 about 2 years ago... love it! Upon failing emissions recently, I discovered that the check engine light was out... wait it can't go out it's an LED! Turns out that the idiots that sold me the truck put electrical tape over the check engine bulb! I have a Hawkeye scanner which shows clear DTCs on the SLABS and the engine computer. Light is still on, emissions said gear 3 and gear 4 incorrect ratio. Where are these codes stored???

Just a regular OBD2 scanner will get those, if you fix the cause of the fault. Also another reason to check all of those things before you buy. My ABS light did not comeon during the bulb check when you first turn the car on. I asked about it and knocked it down $1K.
