The slide out cup holders are a little odd. Thats about the only issue I have with it.

I see the analogy, but mine is is the other way around.
I see a 300Tdi D1 as like my old Olympus OM1. Very basic, totally mechanical, but takes great photos. Not so much to go wrong.
Newer Rovers are like some high end SLR's, lots of electronic stuff so you can do all sorts of fancy photography, but if the battery or electronics fail or are damaged you can't take any photos at all.

My only complaint is that the chassis on these can rust like no tomorrow, at least where i live, due to the road salt. This is compared to the D1's I have seen that are older and might only have light surface rust on the chassis.

That is my only real complaint, considering what we paid for the thing.

A few repeats a few new:
No disable button for the TC
Wipers front/rear suck in performance and cost (without mod)
Can't open the door when it rains without water splashing onto the seat
Headliner Sag
Cooling system inadequate
Entry into the rear seat difficult due to wheel arch and narrow opening
Front seat doesn't go back far enough
Not enough gauges (oil pressure, oil temp, coolant temp, voltage would be nice)
Rear windows only going down 50% of the way
Folding down rear seats with the front seats fully back is hard
No check/fill of transmission

My 04 HSE7 doesn't have the rear jacks/controls for the kids in the back.
It's an HSE, why wouldn't it? Makes no sense.

With the HSE, you have the factory Nav system, correct? I believe that didn't have the dual audio system like the High Line audio only system. The head unit in those could run two functions simultaneously so it could supply radio to the speakers and CD to the headphones making the controls worth having. My '04 SE7 had the factory head unit replaced with an aftermarket one by a previous owner so I have inoperable rear seat controls.

That is correct. I wanted the HSE so I had all the options( Nav,Backup alarm, SLS) but didn't know that rear seat controls were not there. Well I saw they wern't there but I had a set on my parts truck. Of course they won't work because of the deck. Could change the deck but the harness isn't there from the deck to the amp!

Havent seen this one....the rear door...cant drive with it open...be nice for picking things up at Home Depot/Lowes...

And they changed the window button orientation from the DI to the D2...D1 forward buttons were for the rear...D2 forward buttons for the front (intuitive but hard to break a habit) finally starting to get use to the D2 after 2 years...

Filling transmission from underneath.
Plastic radiator.
16 MPG gets tedious.
Big and slow in a city where everyone flies.
