Open the doors, drain and refill the fluids, blow out the cylinders and you're good to go.
There isn't a DII, DIII or DIV that you can say the same about.

I still wouldnt say that a DII is more capable then a D1, or an LR3 is more capable the a DII. Although on paper, they might be, but what happens in the real world is far different then what happens on paper. The newer vehicles may have fancier electronic gizmo whats, but the more technology you add, the more there is to go wrong. I think a perfect example of this theory is, I have had my D1 up the the bottom of my seats in water for about a minute once. Finally got out of the water, checked the diffs, engine and tranny for water, none was there so I drove off. In a DII, your tranny ECU went out a few seconds after the water came in , now your stuck in the water, and after waiting 15 minutes to get pulled out your diff's are full of water, and most likely your engine and tranny too, along with your tranny ECU. Now your screwed.
Another example. What happens when your airbag suspension fails when your 40 miles away from the nearest road, and a couple hundred from the nearest city?

haha well this forum is based in the NADA so I figured we were talking about that. Either way, I think water crossings will never be a measure of a vehicle's ability. Also you never should compare vehicles if one of them is defective or not running properly, how is that fair? I've driven a Ser. IIA, III, 86 110, 2009 D110, 2012 D110, 97 D1, 2002/2003 DIIs, not sure the year on the LR3 I drove, and a 2012 LR4. The 2012 D110 was a close second, but the LR4 out performed any of those vehicles hands down. Locking rear diff, locking center, and TC locking the front wheelspin. I did an owner's day experience at the LR Experience in Vermont with a few RRs, RRSs, LR4, NAS D90, and my truck. The D90 and my truck were the only ones running off road tires, we got walked on by the newer vehicles on every part of the trail. I'm not saying I'd go out and buy one, just that they're certainly more capable vehicles stock compared to the other older LR vehicles.

My analogy between the two is.
The Sport (and lr3/4 for that matter) is like a point and shoot camera.
The Disco is like an slr.

Are you referring to the fact that it does everything for you? Or that you can't modify it as much?
