Default Thinking about buying a 99 Disco II 86K miles

I am thinking about buying a 99 Disco II 86K miles, I ran the carfax, only service shown was at 53K miles, everything else checked out.
Has new BFG AT tires and 2" lift.
He is asking $5000.00 for it, KBB is 4100-4600
Not sure what to do.
I was thinking about taking it to a LR Dealer and for 198.00 they do a complete inspection.
Is this a good Idea?

What should I pay for the car.
Any other advice would be appreciated.

Steven

Big bucks for a car that could need an engine at any point. I'd pay $5000 for a 2004, if I needed to replace mine for some reason, but probably not a 1999.

I paid 4000 for mine. No regrets. Probably put about 500 bucks into for servicing and little fixed like viscous fan, Tstat, MAF. I would take it to a dealer. I didn't have one close. That way they find some little stuff wrong and you can haggle him on the price.

that price is up there, but $198.00 will be the best money you will put into the truck, after the inspection you will find out if it is worththat much.

Inspection for sure. So many join and post on here about major problems in first week or two of ownership. Would also pay extra for the inspection to include an oil PSI test with a manual gauge.
