Default Three amigos

I have a 2000 Disco with about 70,000m on it. The ABS, TC and HDC with the Check Engine light. If I shut the Disco off and restart it the three amigos go out but the Check Engine stays on. When I bring it to my local independent there are no codes but he resets the Check engine which stays off indefinitely until it happens again. ?????

Yes, the check engine light will stay off until there is a problem. No problem no light.

As for the 3 amigos...when was the last time you had new brakes put on the truck?

I just bought the truck a month ago and had the brakes check before I purchased it. The mechanic, not one that I normally use, said they were about 70%.

So if the brakes are 70% worn then I would say that is why you have the three amigos.
And since you just bought the truck you know that you must use premium gas and that the front driveshaft needs to be rebuilt?

I made the assumption that theyhad 70% of life left (Half full/half empty). I had just read about the drive shafts so I will get them checked out. I will have my mechanic check the brake pads at the same time. I knew about the premium gasoline.
Thanks

Do your brakes squeak? Next time the pads are pulled apply lots of the sound deadening goop on them. The vibrations from squealing brakes can trip the 3 amigos. Only use genuine pads or ones that produce little to no brake dust, as the dust is another cause for them.

No squeaks. Everything appears to work normally. I am going to try breaking hard on a loose surface next time the lights come on.

That was going to be my other suggestion, to test the system.

Thanks, the frustrating part about it is that the lights have to be on for a diagnosis.
