Default Three amigos for 4.5 minutes

I got in my truck to pick up dinner tonight. Start it up and three amigos light up. Shut it off and on a couple times no change. I drive a mile or two to the restaurant and shut the truck off. Go inside for one minute, come back out and start the truck. No amigos. ?!?! I’ve never had three amigo issues with this truck ever. Maybe this will jinx it... I think I know why though... Earlier today I was bored at a stop light and was gently letting off the brake numerous times until the brakes barely held and they started to make that little lurching noise. Probably shouldn’t have done that. Anyways should I be concerned at all? Should I expect a great sum to leave my wallet soon? Anything preventative stuff to do now?

Ha, I guess I'm not the only one who loves to play with the brakes at a stoplight to get that "lurching" sound. Only in an automatic.

I don't really have anything to add about your 3 amigos problem, except I'm sure people will advise you to do Option B. Not too costly (still need to do mine).

I get an occasional set of Amigos, that go away on the next key start. Seems to occur after the truck sits for some time in damp weather. They show up before I move the truck. I have always assumed the cause was rust on the hub tone ring?

Not really sure. It would probably make sense. I concluded that the cause of my situation was me being silly with my brakes at the stop light. I’ve driven 600+ miles since then and have had no issues, so I chose to disregard it.

I did the option B fix this past weekend. There’s plenty of good videos and documentation. All you need is as soldering iron, some wire insulation, electrical tape, extra wire, and some hardware for the ground.

I had most of that stuff either at home or work and bought a $20 soldering kit. I enlisted my brother to help me and the whole thing took about 2.5 hours. We took our time.

Worth it. No amigos since.

A wheel vibration/screech can set off the Amigos, that may have happened while you were playing with the brakes.
