Default Three Amigos and Pump Relay Open Circuit

I am preparing to fix the three amigos in my 03 Disco II. I have the falconworks shuttle valve and seals, intending to do "option b". Purchased a Nanocom to assist with the brake bleeding. However, I am puzzled by the ABS fault the Nanocom indicates "16-01 pump relay open circuit" INTERMITTENT 016 times". Not the error code I was expecting.

Any thoughts or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Dave

I am unfamiliar with the Nanocom, but I can offer this: of the 5 discos that I have owned, ALL of them benefitted from the grounding mod.

I'd venture a guess that "open circuit intermittent" means something isn't quite right with the electrical part.

And a good ground can in no way harm your current situation.

Also, if you pump is FUBAR, go pull one from a yard. I've bought perfectly good ones for $80-ish, then clean and re-seal. And re-ground.

Peaked my interest. What is the "Grounding Mod"

Are you talking about a "Big Three" Mod. Positive from Alternator to Battery; Engine ground to Chassis ground or Battery negative; Battery negative to Chassis ground?

or

Ground Mod. The only grounding mods I am aware of are the ones you use for Unibody cars, which our Rovers are not. But I have seen these make a world of difference on old Jap Unibodies.

Does a Grounding Mod on the Disco comprise of some ground flow from the negative battery terminal to different points on the sub frame?

Really interested in this!
