Throttle Body Heater Gasket Material

The coolant was leaking down on the valve cover and exhaust manifold.

Not sure who you are asking drowssap, but I was talking about my throttle body heater leaking causing a burning coolant smell.

I bypassed mine a few years ago . Never had a problem has never leaked again.

Well, here we go again. Time to revive this thread. This time the current TBH gasket has lasted just two years and not quite 18,000 miles. It wasn't obvious the leak was from the TBH but I bypassed it a month ago and the level of coolant in the reservoir stopped dropping. We've all read all the pros and cons about just bypassing the damn thing but I guess I'm stubborn. My stubborness may have its limits however, but before I decide to just leave it bypassed I thought I'd ask once again if anyone has found a better solution for poor gasket life. I guess the other question is why in the world is this little gasket such a problem?
