Default Throttle Body heater leak again

Okay, I repairedmy throttle body heater once before about three years ago and now I notice that it'sslightly leaking again. Is there any downside to saying to heck with it and connecting the throttle body coolant inlet and outlet hoses together to bypass the throttle body? I don't see a real need for it downhere in Texas.This seems to be a weak spot in the coolant system/poor design so any reason not to bypass it and deletea potential problem once and for all?

Also, After some scrounging I finally found the Havoline XLC coolant that's recommended in the manual. One thing I noticedthough is that nowhere on the container does it mention ithasOAT (organic acid technology) where themanual specifically states the coolant should have it. Fromwhat I understand, isthisthesame asthe G.M. Dex-Coolproduct?Also, are all Dex-Cool products orangeor are they sometimes red or ???

Beautiful day for working on the truck that I love!

Thanks in advance!

I disconnected mine and it runs fine, only seems like you would need it in extremely cold climates.

Living in TX you can by-pass it. However if you stop using DexCool you wont have that problem anymore.
OAT=Organic Acid Technology
"O"Meaning that it is enviromentaly "friendly"
"A"Meaning that it will eat scale, as well as gaskets.
"T"Meaning that they mixed organic with man made.
Personally I wouldnt use a OAT coolant, I would do a complete flush and use a different coolant.
But yes, you can by-pass the t-body heater.
