Doesn't sound too bad (or really that bad at all) to me. I've had alot of Disco2's. About half of them (esp facelift) have had that noise, without issue, for my entire ownership.
Agree 1100000% that putting the Rotella oil in is the way to go. That quiets them down !

BTW I only use genuine LR oil filters or Mahle and would recommend doing the same yourself, but ... you're prob fine with that other one. It's really just an oil filter.

PS get an ultra gauge and watch your coolant temps like a hawk. (read on here about it). I don't run any D2 without it in place, ever. Super key to preventing overheat which cooks head gaskets and motors.

Thanks, that makes me feel better. My buddy gave me some Motul Hydraulic Lifter Care to throw in while my oil change. Any chance you've used it?

First item I bought was the ultragauge! Once I fully detail the interior, I'll be mounting that as right now I just have it sitting next to the transfer case shifter.

Wow, that is really nice and clean! Mine is Bonatti Grey and the metallic paint seems to make my significant other think its actually green.

And yes, watch the temp on the Ultragauge, but you can set an alarm on it to beep at a temperature that you set.

Thank you! The wifey tells me it’s a jade or sea green - not that means anything to me as I’m color dumb lol

Is there a temp you would recommend setting the alarm at?

do a full refresh on the cooling system (hoses, new rad, flowkooler pump, belt and pulleys), extinct inline mod, new fan clutcg and drive it after confirming temps. I don't run an ultra gauge so I don't become a slave to it. These motors are quite consistent once gone through ime and at NOVA elevations and temp range you'll be fine. I will check temps occasionally with a bluetooth dongle and app on my phone but it's not as dire imo as folks make it out to be if you start fresh and then maintain..

I set mine for 217*F. Others probably use a slightly different number

All the trucks I sell come with an ultragauge, alarm set to 210. I do recommend it. Things can happen and you can experience an overheat even with a well maintained system and when you do it is at risk of blown hg or worse.

Take a look at this UltraGauge mount. I bought one and it’s awesome. No better way to mount one.
