My mechanic actually put me on to HOAT coolants recently, a much better alternative to the orange OAT/ Dex-Cool coolant. He recommended I use the pink HOAT formula for Asian vehicles.

Same applies, however, you have to flush the bejeezus out of your cooling system before replacing an OAT coolant like Dex-Cool with anything else.

I still have Dexcool in mine. I've changed it out a couple of times. New thermostat in 2012 and again with a new water pump in 2014.

I use the long term red type in all the fire pumps and diesel generators I service for work. I may just keep it in and see what happens. I have to change the thermostat soon so I'll flush it and refill with the same stuff.
