Default tire size question

I have an 04 discovery with the factory 18 inch wheels NO I am not going to go to 16 inch rims I want to stay with the 18s with that said I am running the stock 255 55 18 but I want to go to either a 60 or 70 tire
and if possible wanted to go up too 265
so ideal would be 265 70 18
my question has anyone run this size tire without a lift I dont want to go to a lift if that size tire wont fit without a lift then would a 255 70 18 fit
thanks in advance

I ran 265/65r18s for a while before I lifted and they were perfect. Even with no sway bars there was no rub at full stretch/full lock. That's as big as you can go though. Some guys report very minor rubbing at full lock but I didn't experience that.

Not to presume since you didn't indicate it, but even if you don't do a lift chances are you should have fresh stock springs so you have the maximum room for those tires.

If original, your springs are probably sagging one to two inches.

You can measure and see, but honestly that's not always the case. Mine were still perfectly in spec when I lifted.

Spec is measured from the center of the hub to the wheel arch. One end is 19" +/- 1/2", the other is 19.5" +/- 1/2". Can't remember which is front and which is rear, but measure both sides front and average the two and measure both sides rear and measure the two. The fact of the matter is most of these trucks don't sag as much as people thing unless they've been really treated rough or wheeled a lot.

Maybe true, my stock springs were shot at 130k. I do frequent partially maintained forest roads but nothing truly off road.

Thanks for the reference to the measurement. There is no ride worse that 5000 pounds of metal on sagging springs.

I ran 265/65-18 and had rubbing at full lock and full stuff in the front. It would hit the fender liner.

The tires your wanting would either require a lift or a sawzall.

I currently run 255/60-18's, but the next time I get tires I'm thinking of 265/60-18's in Goodyear Duratracs. I don't have a lift and original springs in the front and stock SLS in the rear.
