Tires - Why do most recommend 245's?

In all honestly, the 245x75R16 is a widespread OEM tire size. So, you get more selection at a better price.

I'm considering a 2" lift. I have rear bags and need to get the spacers. I saw the spacers and coil spacers (for the front) for $189.00. I think i'll go with the 255/70-16 General Grabber AT2's, the 245/75-16 Grabbers are 10 ply....a little too stiff for me.

I was wondering about the same thing, I put 265/70 16s on my 88 Range Rover and they fit nice. I'm going to sell the 88 and my wife would like those tires on her 95 Disco. They fit of course, however I was wondering what the difference in fuel economy may be. I did mount one of the wheels from the RR on the Disco just for a little bit to see what it would look like. I do like the taller tire, and the 265/70s are far less expensive than the 245/75 if you can find them.
