Tom woods drive shaft unboxing
"Premature failure, just make sure to grease it every oil change"
I was a Tom Woods customer. The drive shaft looked beefy and impressive when I set my first sights upon its arrival.
Used the front driveshaft for a couple of years. Greased religiously. 2" OME lift, ie, no severe drive line angles. Occasional, but not severe off-roading. It failed suddenly when I was on the freeway. I was lucky.... slowed down quickly and stopped right away when I felt severe throbbing underneath. Avoided damage to the transmission.
The center bearing pin broke off which does not normally carry much load (according to my shop). Still baffled to this day on why it happened, especially with the knowledge that Tom Woods used spicer 1310 joints.

It is possible to over lubricate things which can be just as detrimental if not more than under lubricating. Can't speak to driveshafts in particular but it is an issue with other rotating machinery.
