Default Tone won't stop...

So the new gremlin today is the open door tone won't stop chiming, even with doors shut and locked. Have disconnected the batt for now, but she's my dd. Any suggestions?

so I also tried moving the L/H range shifter and that, or the battery being disconnected, or both, seems to have solved the issue. strange...

My guess is that the switch for one of your doors is broken. More than likely your drivers side door. This would be the switch that is depressed to let the truck know the door is shut and your interior lights should dim.

Start there first to rule that out.

You will need to take the door card off

Door switches
The BCU uses the door latch switches to indicate if a door is open or closed. The BCU provides power to all door latch
switches; the switches are in the 'normally open' condition when the doors are shut. When a door is opened, the door
switch contacts are closed and the circuit is earthed, signalling a change in state to the BCU. All doors except the
driver's doors are connected in parallel, so the BCU will recognise a passenger door has been opened but will not be
able to distinguish which one. The driver's door has a dedicated signal line which enables the BCU to detect if the
driver's door has been opened or closed.

Check page 86-4-6 in the RAVE manual

thanks, had missed that in the Rave, although now I also know how to remove a door. Cleaned the battery terminals and connectors, seems to have resolved issue. Will continue to monitor. Thanks again FND.

The only switch thats in the door are in the actuator, most likely its grounded or got stuck when you unlock them. It also tiggers the alarm. You could probably clean the contacts inside or the connector is loose.
