I have a 99 Disco II that has a performance problem. Delayed throttle response, no power unless you sneak up on it slowly, really doesn't like hills. I have replaced the air filter, and all spark plugs, have had the codes read at NAPA came up with 22, mostly for misfires on all cyls. ( possibly due to the fact that I ran the engine for two min. with the MAF disconnected) Here are the ones left after the misfires.
P0130, P0135, P0154, P0155, P0733, P1174, P1590, P1300, P1884.
NAPA said this leads to possibly the first two O2 sensors, the coil pack, or the MAF, or all of the above.

Please help if you can as this is my winter vehicle and I won't be able to get out without it.

 

when was the last time you checked for codes? and were they cleared after the last time?

 

Today, and no they did not clear and read again as I had asked them to. (said it was difficult to do)

 

Too difficult? Do you have an AutoZone or Advanced Auto nearby? They will generally lend you the scan tool and you can clear them in the parking lot.

 

How many miles on the Disco? How long have you owned it? Are your O2 sensors original?

Go to the User CP tab at the top left and put the details of your Disco in your signature. Look at some of the other signatures as examples.

 

Your codes are for wiring problems related to O2 sensors, transmission problems, misfires, etc. See attached from RAVE on engine management, describes what causes these 02 codes, maybe cables unplugged by work under the hood, etc.

Hope you were not paying for codes to be read. Reset takes seconds with a reader.

 

The performance problem is caused by the misfires. the oxygen sensors and the maf will cause only slight hesitation at times and suck your gas.

Disconnecting the maf will only cause a 102 not the lean code or the 733.

You need to fix the misfires first and install a new maf or else.

Oh and don't buy Napa or autozone on the oxygen sensors or the maf. They may look the same but if its not oem it will cause other issues. But if you want a decent place to get all of your parts look at Atlantic British. They can get all your parts that you need.

If you have that many misfires and havent installed new plugs and wires the do the plugs and wires. if you have and they are not screwed up then look at a coil. But coils misfire together like 7 and 4, or 1 and 6, or 5 and 8, and 2 and 3

 

I ment when was the last time you read or clerared the code before today? Ever? are the codes a year old? 2 weeks old? if you dont know how long they have been there you could be chasing ghosts. With out more information;I would say clear them and see what comes back over the next couple of days.

 

So, let's start with the basics, when was it last tuned along with 8mm silicone plug wires, what octane gas are you using, what is the current mileage and have the 02's ever been changed?
Also why do a Poll to determine what parts are needed, makes no since?

 

OK the codes have been cleared and read again after some driving. got P0102, P0130, P0155, P1300. Last tune up was in o4 ,(plugs, air filter, oil change) O2 sensors are likely original as are the wires and coilpack as well as the MAF. It has 129,000 mi. currently running 93 octane although for a period I was running 89 due to finances. (big mistake).
sorry about the poll (misunderstood). Sat. I changed the plugs, air filter, re-welded the muffler at the tube seam. plus rotors and pads all around.
