Top 5 Disco issues that'll strand you (other than head gaskets / front driveshaft)?
On a D1, if you go through an automatic with the underwash spray, it could get the ECU wet and you will be stranded. Happened to me and has happened to a few others. I stay away from the touchless washes with undercarriage spray.
Actually I just wash it in my driveway. I can't say enough doo things about the mister clean car wash thingy. Black truck and no spots.

I say definitly change it by 80k miles if it has not been done. Mine died at about 95k miles, it happens all the time, it will leave you stranded and it's not too expensive.
I got a bad misfire the last time I powerwashed the underside of my DII, very annoying.
My crank sensor went out and left me pushing the LR off the road downtown during lunch rush hour on Monday. On the way to a job interview. I could have done without that. Mine went out with no warning at 110,000. Replacement cost $100 and an hour.

Weird! I went to start my car after it was sitting outside for a few days (had been very rainy/windy right before I tried to start it) and it started fine for a minute or so then developed a nasty misfire - went away with higher revs then after driving it for 5 minutes it was gone totally.
What area is so vulnerable?! It pretty much has to be spark in this case (I mean, if it's the ECU then one would think logically that since it's a computer.. it should either work or NOT work) my case sounded more like a wet coil or coil signal, plug wire, etc. But the other stories I've read about on here for sure sound more like a computer crapping out.
I thought the ECU was inside the vehicle by the tranny tunnel/center console drivers side? Or is that just the SLABS and EAT computers?
