Default Tornado Systems Group Ecu Tune

I am working with Mark Adams at Tornado Systems about putting together a group buy for the Disco 2 guys. This will be open to the 4.0 and 4.6 and there will be three tunes available. You will have the choice between Economy, Middle of the Road and Performance Tunes. I am currently trying to get all the information so we can give exact numbers and speak better to each tune and the benefits of each. From what I understand in my digging, Mark is one of the best I have found doing ECU tunes for the Land Rover/Bosch Ecu's. If he offers the same as other offering these tunes, and from my research it should be better, you would see a minimum of 19-25 horsepower increase and 10-15 ft-lbs of torque on the tune. The main thing he looks to do with his tune is eliminate the drop of in torque that is found after 3000rpm. We all know this truck has the low end torque to get off the line but then it falls on it's face. He resolves the torque drop off found after 3000rpm and helps fix the run rich at low rpm and lean at high rpm problems are trucks are known for.

One thing I will shout out for the 4.0 crowd is updating the MAF to the larger Bosch MAF the 4.6 uses in conjunction with the tune allows for an extra 10Bhp. If you got the regular tune and updated to larger MAF at a later time there would be no gains and actually cause the truck to run lean.

Mark is currently working on several trade shows so we are trying to set this up for February. Please feel free to visit his websites and gather your own info and I will update this thread the closer we get to finalizing this. What I need from you guys right now is to know how many people are interested as this will have a direct impact on what kind of pricing we can get. I have already had interest from several people and am probably looking at 5 confirmed tunes now but we will need more than that to get a group rate. Please PM or reply to this post if we can expect you to want to join in to the group buy.

I am in for 1 and maybe 2. My question is how much is the tune at normal price?

During your research have you found any anecdotal reports of folks getting an increase in MPG using available tunes? Thanks for taking the time working to get a group buy together. Will be interesting to see what they may have to offer.

The normal price is £385.00($555 USD) for the ecu tune or £425.00($613 USD) for the MAF/ECU Tune for the 4.0.

From what I have seen most companies only offer a performance tune and typically see a 3-4mpg increase. Tornado Systems is the only one I have seen offering a economy tune. I will give exact numbers as soon as I can get them.

I think I said in the other thread, but I'm definitely interested. I'd love some some MPG numbers on the performance tune, that's almost definitely the one I'd choose of the three. It is going to come down to cost for me since I'm in college, but I'll say its an almost definitely for me.

Getting people to commit before knowing a price is always........interesting.
Obviously Mark has a minimum quantity number as well as a group buy price already sorted out in his head. Maybe he can just say: Group buy price is $xxx.xx with a minimum order or xx units?
Might get more takers that way. And as you mentioned some better information on Economy vs Middle of the Road vs Performance tunes.

Another question I've got is, can he make the change in the ECU so that when you engage CDL on a '99-'03 the Tres Amigos won't show up if you turn off the truck without disengaging the CDL? I currently have permanent 3 Amigos and no CDL installed, but I've just done the option B (but haven't been able to test) and I've got a CDL to install, so I'd like that to already be good to go when I get it done.

The slabs Wabco unit is responsible for that, not the ECU. Get an 04' unit, it's a direct swap.

I can't link because I'm on my phone, but do a cut and paste.
