i know i did some good for female drivers with my ex. as much as everything crashed and burned, while things were good and early in the relationship she would spend a lot of time with my in the garage watching me work on my bikes or car. asking questions as to what did what and how to do certain things. when she bought a bike of her own she could check and change the oil herself, do the tires, lube the chain etc. she learned more then she ever had with any guy.

so that was my good deed,,, educating a woman on the basics of automotive and motorcycling mechanics and maintanance.

New car owners should be forced to look at pictures like this, kind of like back in driver's ed where they show them the pictures of head on collisions!

Oh man looking at that engine makes me sick. My wife's BMW 525i has 178k and when I changed the valve cover gasket a few months ago the engine looked great inside. I hate to see an abused like that. Can you imagine what the rest of the car looked like?

I'm not sure what it looks like but I bet it smells like Drakar Noir and cigarettes in the interior.

damn i wish my girl would take an interest in my hobbies like that. she just rolls her eyes and stays out of the garage....

and yes all my cars have extra oil in the trunk, and in my old benz i always keep a gallon of distilled water just in case. never had to use any of it, but there always there.

Pics like this make be glad my Dad, and Grandfather raised my to take care of my vehicles.
That's like letting a baby sit in a dirty diaper for a month.

Years ago I had a kid come into a shop I was at to change the oil in his year old Jeep
the tect pulled the plug and black lumps and a thin black stream started to flow out.

The motor had a sound like a diesel I asked about his last oil change "its on the window sticker" I looked and it was 25,000 miles ago.

I told him that the motor was most likely shot,, He said "O no problem its still under warranty" I then told him that to be under warranty he has to maintain it as his owners manual required other wise no waranty.

His face went white.

I made my son buy a 1985 3/4 ton Dodge pick up with a 318 and a 2BBL carb.
Taught him to change his own oil, made him actually change a tire, that meant jacking up the truck, removing the tire etc.
He had to learn patience with that truck, you cant just jump in and go in 20*F weather...he was late for school alot.

Now he just takes his car to the local Honda dealer for oil changes, it's $15 and he does not have to get dirty.
He called me one day asking why his heater didnt work...he added a gallon of coolant.
You can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink.

Believe it or not there are people out there who dont even know that their car needed gas until it would not run.
There are bootleg tapes out there of GM's help line with all kinds of calls with people asking why their brand new car just died.
And why did they crash when the set the cruise control...because that is just like auto pilot.

Some people should not be allowed to reproduce.

My wifes grandmother has a lil Escort she has not changed the oil in - for five (5) years. she checks it regularly and adds what it needs but has never changed it - or cares to. Funny thing is, it runs like a top - she also says when they start sounding bad she trades them in. I've never gotten up the courage to ask about any of her previous cars.
