Default Towing a car 2k miles with 2000 Disco

My wife and I are driving from Minnesota to Palm Springs,Ca. We are not sure if we are better driving 1 car each, or towing 1(hyundai Sonata) behind the Disco. I have never hauled anything using this Land Rover. She has 125k miles and runs good but I would like to keep her this way.

I know it is hard to know the answer but is this a piece of cake for a disco or could it be too much for the tranny etc. Also is there any advice for a first time hauler?

Thanks for any help.

Air up your tires to 40 pounds, new air filter 2 bottles of Chevrons large gas additive and possible tranny fluid change and you should be fine. When was it last tune along with wires?

Rent a tow dolly and keep the speed no faster than 65.
Check all fluids and change any that may need it before you leave.

Thanks for the advice.

Can I ask is the speed limit thing because the dolly will be unstable, or a preventitive measure for the Disco.

The dolly will be wider than your Disco so stability is not a issue.
But you will need to stop unexpectedly at some point and stopping with another 3,000 lbs wont be easy.
Safety first.
Speed kills.
Safety is no accident.
You get the idea.
