The only effect that towing MAY have is damage to the transmission flexplate by being over enthusiastic from a standing start but IMO severe offroading will do more damage. I have 130K miles of which 20-25K have been towed miles with loads invariably near the limit of 3500kgs (not lbs) with no ill effects. Everything critical on the truck is original (but I did hear a strange whine from the turbo 2 days ago)

Tut, tut, naughty, naughty, your state governments don't permit TD5's in most cases so it looks like the ole Rover V8 for now

Unfortunately, diesels in the EU have their cards marked also and in 5-10 years there won't be any TDi's around here also ....................... joke is the various EU governments 'encouraged' people to buy diesels as they were 'greener' and less 'polluting' than petrols, hmmmm, they made another big **** up there eh

Janspeed do a twin turbo charged petrol Rover V8 engine

Okay, that was interesting to read about. We do have a few diesels here but nothing that works nicely in a rover.

We were and are ruined by the Peoples' Republic of CALIFORNIA and it's emissions standards. I live in Texas and I don't know anyone who wouldn't rather have a diesel in their ATV, lawn mower, generator, plane, boat, motorcycle, spaceship, car, or truck.

My favorite car is my diesel sucking, smoke belching, truckstop smelling, slow, utterly dependable, built like a small locomotive,European spec, 1983 Mercedes 300CD.
