Trans and towing

Trans and towing
I'm towing about 3000-3500lbs. I read the manual and there's nothing mentioned about what gear I should be pulling in. Alot of vehicles have a tow button that will limit shifting and such.
Should I put it in 3rd or let it ride in drive? I've been using drive and it tows fine I just don't want to damage anything.

RE: Trans and towing
It will depend on the type of road you are driving on. If it is a flat highway and the engine is not pulling too hard don't worry about it, if you need some help, drop it to 3rd and you'll be fine. Don't forget to throw in a good bottle of gas additive to clean out your engine while out there on the road, it will be great for it.

WB,
I have an 03 Disco and I couldn't find any reference in the manual about towing in a lower gear. It states that if your towing at less than 20mph to shift to low range on the 4 wheel drive deal.
Mike,
I've been putting in a bottle of Seafoam at every oil change. Would it hurt to use Seafoam or another fuel additive more often?
