Exclamation Transfer Case

I'm having my transmission and transfer case replaced with a used lower mileage set. My mechanic just called and said the transfer case has 2 extra electric connectors on it. Will this transfer case work on my 2002 Disco 2? I got the transmission and transfer case off a like model.

Thanks for any guidance!

Does "like model" mean same year? Replacement T-case might have CDL and that would have a connector for the Diff lock warning lamp on the dash. Have your mech take a pic and upload it.

I second that. The two wires are for the switch to say you are in CDL.
Looks like you are getting a better transfer case.
What is the donor vehicle year?

Default t case

Beware on these used t case they will all be bad close to 100,000 miles and dont belive a junk yard that sales them as good unites .Had two go bad in the past 20,000 miles so i rebuilt the next one. These have eight bearing in them take it to a shop that works on t case and rebuild it 250 for parts plus labor.

Mel, an 04 case will work with your truck, will you also be getting the shift linkage?
You will need to get a little creative with the wiring because the 04 has a different shift solenoid, but you can work around pretty easily.

Braxton, what you need to find out is what year that t/case came out of. You only want a G2 t/case from a 99, 2000, 2001 or a 2004, do not use one from a D1.
When you say you got it off a like model, doesn't tell us what year. Are you wanting the CDL, if so don't forget you will need a D1 or an 04 shift assembly.

Hi mike, thanks for the reply. The unit i bought came with the shift linkage. How about the tranny? I heard the 04 tranny is longer because its a 4.6. What do i need to do with the wiring? Can i use the old shift with this new one? Thanks as always.

Do you have a 2 cable shifter or one with mechanical arms like from a D1?
The difference in length is not worth worrying about.

Thank for the replies. My question is can this transmission and TC be installed without connecting the other 2 connectors?

3 responses ask what year disco the tranny/t-case came from. See if you can find out and perhaps someone can answer your query...
