Default Transfer case Temp Light

I need some assistance. I was driving on the interestate, goin faster then I should be, between 85-95 and switching between luxury mode and power mode when passing. The transfer temp. dummy light came on. So I pulled over and read the manual, it says it will occur in high temperatures or while pulling something. I wasnt pulluing anything and it was in maybe the 60s. I took it to pennzoil to have them drain and change the gearbox oil. After an hour they told me they dont have the tool to remove the drain plug from the transfer case. Ive run into this problem with trying to get the transmition fluid changed also. What Im wantying to know is, What tool is needed and where can I buy one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, when were the fluids all last changed?
How many miles on the truck?
Most likely it will be the tranny that was running hot.
a 1/2' socket wrench will take off the diff and t/case drain plugs.

the drain plug on my transmission is a 5/16" hex..I believe..I just checked it the other day but didn't look at the size...it's definitely a hex.

i dont know when the fluids were all changed. I bought the truck with 115,000 miles. It currently has 135,000 miles. Ive had it just under one year. Ive tried to have the transmition fluid changed and they said they couldnt do it either. Then i was told not to have the transmition flushed because it could wear out the seals???? I know very basics about vehicles, im kinda vehicle illiterate after oil changes and tires. The light did turn off after it cooled down, but i would still like the fluid changed. Should i go ahead and get the tranny fluid changed also?

All of these questions can be answered in the write up section.

It was your transmission temp light that came on, either leave it in sport mode or normal mode, do not switch back and forth, no need to, you are driving a truck not a sports car.

The transfer case does not have a temp sensor.

Those guys could change your trans fluid, there is a drain plug and a fill plug, pretty easy to do if your not a idiot.
Take it to a 4x4 shop and have ALL of your drive line fluids changed.
That means the front differential, the transfer case, the rear differential and the transmission fluid and filter.
Both diffs and the t-case take gear lube, the trans takes Dexron III.

Drain plug is a metric hex (5mm I think) and fill plug is 1/2" square (1/2" ratchet with no socket).

The transmission drain plug on the D2 is a T-30 Torx, but the teeth will line up so you can use a hex "Allen" wrench I believe, but not sure which size. The fill plug up on the side is 8mm inside hex. If you plan on changing the transmission filter, it has three bolts that hold it on that are T-27 Torx, but you may be able to use a hex wrench here as well.

The t/c, and front/rear diffs use the 1/2" square drive like on your ratchet and breaking bar for the fill and the drain.
