Default Transfer case, Transmission or flexplate problem?

Hi Guys, Im having some issues with something but i cant point out which to trouble shoot.
When in "D", when engine is cold, the RPM needed to be over 3000-3500 before it engages to gear and also in reverse.
Often lately, it wont go into gear when the engine is cold. It goes smoother one the engine temperature reaches to 188-195.
Sometimes when climbing uphill, shifting stutters. Seems to be jolting. A bit hard to explain but anybody here had the experience
and direction on to whats going on and possibly a fix.
thank you

Presumably you checked your fluid level? That’s the first thing I’d check.
