Transmission Cooling Line Problems
I recently took out a bad motor on my 2000 Disco II and replaced with a good one. During the swap the upper transmission cooler line was difficult to disconnect from the trans cooler. When I finally did get it off the coupler broke so I ordered a new cooler line from AB. I did notice that the aluminim connecting line on the cooler seemed to be bent at the elbow. I put the new engine in, connected everything, started it up and down the road I went. I put about 1500 miles on the car when the new trans cooling line disconnected and covered the road with trans fluid. Towed to my mechanic, less than 1 mile down the road, and he thinks that the bend in the cooler line is keeping the trans cooler line from attaching to the cooler correctly. My only thought is that it's either the bend in the cooler's line or a bad trans. cooling line. Any thoughts?
Carefully bend the cooler pipe on the radiator back into shape, it's soft aluminum. The quick connects are known to quickly disconnect as well if not fitted properly - put it back on and twist it slightly, it should click in place.
Exactly what I did when I changed mine. For the life of me I couldn't get the cooler lines off the oil or transmission coolers, so I pulled the radiator, and left the two coolers where they were.
i did the same yesterday as i am not pulling them either..WHo the Fu$ck designed that mounting of the raditor?.... they should be shot..what idiots...could they have thought of more crap to take off to get the raditor out...FI.....my RR was so simple....idiots....
