If it was changed as part of the 30K, it is not needed in the future per the owner's manual.

I have no records prior to my purchase of it about 5,000 miles ago. The fluid is in need of changing so I thought it would better to be safe than sorry and change the filter as well. I am planning on switching it over to synthetic ATF during the process as well.

I just would like to know what size of star drive I need to drain the fluid, take off the pan, and change the filter.

Thanks,

There is no harm in changing the filter evenIF it was changed at the 30k per the owners manual, I mean, we all know that evey car is serviced per the manufactures recommendations all the time everytime.
You may just have to buy a star drive set and trial and error to find the correct size.
My DI trans pan uses regular six sided bolts so I am not much help to you, sorry.

The 30 K was a free service from Rover, any dealer can tell you if it was done.
As for switch over, your tranny is a little too old to be switching fluid. Do yourself a favor and buy 6 quarts of Vavolines extended dextron and do a drain and fill, then do it again in 5000 miles and the end result will be better for alot less money.

its a t27, three bolts, dont over torque them, and be careful with the pan holder clips, they break easy

Good to know about not switching over to synthetic. Not knowing too much about the differences between non-synthetic and synthetic, would you mind letting me know what the issue is with switching over for the ATF? What about the rest of the fluids?

Thanks,

you dont end up changing all of the fluid when you change it, a few quarts stay in there. depending on many things, the fluids might not mix all that well, and can cause your clutches to wear out faster

Everything else you can switch to full synthetic without any worries. It will help your MPG too.
