Transmission Fluid Fill
Maybe I'm tired, so this might be a stupid question. I noticed that one of the six bolt fasters one the trans oil pan was broken, causing a slight ATF leak. I replaced the fastener and have a good seal now. While I was under the truck I thought I'd check the fluid level and top it off if necessary. But when I pulled the fill plug, about 1/2-3/4 quart spilled out. The truck had been sitting for a few hours, and I changed the filter/gasket/fluid about 2 months ago. I followed the RAVE guidance for how much to refill it with, but obviously didn't get the full 9.8 quarts in. Any ideas why so much spilled from the fill port 2 months later?
you need to fill it back up until it starts running out the fill hole with the engine running.
you change the fluid 2 months ago there is no need to drain it all again.

1. Drain Fluid
2. Fill through top plug until fluid pours out
3. Start truck and shift to R and D a couple of times and back to park
4. While truck is running in P, go back under and add fluid until it pours out.
5. Done deal, go get the truck muddy
Just changed mine last Friday.

Haha, talk about a laugh at yourself moment. I remembered to put my keys in the ignition before I got under the truck but not to start it. Sometimes you just need someone else to catch those dumb moments for you.
