Transmission just died! Grinding and wont engage
Today I came back to the truck at work where I have it, and there's a big puddle of transmission fluid leaking out on the ground..
It is coming from the front at at the bell housing and is leaking down the engine oil pan as well.. I am pretty sure I have a bust torgue converted or flywheel or something in that area..
Fluids had not leaked like this yet.. most fluid probably gone by now

IS there a link to how the Bell housing come apart from the engine to replace the Flywheel and Torque Converter?? I have done this job on old jeeps and landcruisers..
Your flex plate ground up.
Or your Torque convertor has gone south. Or north in the summer.
Transmission may be polluted with particles.
You need to get it all pulled apart now.
You may want to find a Discovery with a bad engine and put your good engine in to it.
That may be cheaper - believe it or not.

You will need to pull the transmission from below.
All of the bolts holding transmission to engine need to be taken out.
Braces and mounts.
And the driveline stuff attached to the transfer case.
Then all will eventually drop down.
Major work.
To me - this is much harder than head gaskets.
How to fix?
Put in a new transmission or a known good one.
And then you need to flush out all the bad metal from the transmission lines to the cooler up front too.

I think this is a good sign.. I drained the Transmission and there is no sign of metal filings/shaving on the drain plug or in the fluid.. Not a spet or even a glittery look to it..
Going to start unbolting the trasmission now..
Updates and Alarms to come soon
