Default Transmission Problem or Fault

I have a 2004 DII w/auto trans. When shifting from P to R, while backing up both the manual (M) light and sport (S) light both flash on the dash. I have to stop and turn of the ignition to get it to reset. It somtimes does this when shifting from R to D as well and I have to stop again and restart to get it to reset. If I go straight from P to D most times it does not happen. Any ideas? This is becoming a pain in the *** to have to keep stoping after reversing to rest this.

That is an electrical issue that is usually caused because of low voltage to the tranny ECU. Start with cleaning and reinstalling the battery cables and grounds, then go get you voltage checked at a local parts store, you are looking for voltage, while running of 13.6 to 14.4 volts.
After that if you still have a problem, get back to me.

Thanks Mike. I have a multimeter and will check the Volts at the batt while running. Could this also be caused by low idle not spinning the Alternator to speed?

Sure, so check you belt for wear/cracks and your belt tensioner, make sure the tensioner arm arrow matches up with the tensioner's body.
