Default Transmission Removal/Install - Random questions

Hello everybody, this is my first real post, although I've looked at these forums for almost a year now.

I bought a 2002 Disco 2 SE with a heat-seized, headgasket-blown, driven-until-it-cooked motor. However, it's got a good tranny.

I also bought a 2000 Disco 2 SE7 that had the front drive shaft smash a hole into the side of the tranny. However, it runs good, etc.

So needless to say, I have the two most notorious Disco 2 problems on display in the garage. :P

I've just about dropped both transmissions, and plan to swap them out. I also plan to take the CDL off the '00 tranny and put it on the '02 tranny. That way I can install linkage while everything is out.

SO NOW FOR THE REAL QUESTIONS:

1.) While I'm doing all this, any recommendations on anything else I should do while this machine is apart? (I'm already going to buy a decent front driveshaft :P )

2.) Does anyone know how to wire up an override switch for the interlock solenoid? I want to keep it in place, but want to be able to override the lock if it fails on the trail/on the road/wherever it's least convenient.

3.) Does anyone know where to get a clevis pin that attaches to the linkage on the underside of the hi/low shifter? Mine split, seized, and then I broke off the retaining clip portion. I have one good one from the one tranny, but I didn't see any at Rovers North, Atlantic British, etc.

4.) Do I have any reason to replace the flex plate? Also, does it matter which torque converter I use?

I think that's all for now, thanks in advance for any input!

Default Also, Recomendations on CDL Kits

....and

5.) What CDL Kit is cheap, good, and integrates into the existing leaver? Or should I try to grab some DI stuff from a junkyard?

(I know, so uncouth to be the first comment on your own post :P )

Default Just in case you wanted to know...

I bought a CDL lever and linkage from Roverland. I used the TC that came out of the lesser mileage transmission. I didn't do anything with the flexplate or hi/low shifter, and the clevis pin I needed came with the shifter I bought. Just in case you've stumbled upon a similar situation. Have fun!
