Default Transmisson noise

My 04' Disco has 102K miles on it. It is making a knocking noise when I take off, which I believe is coming from the transmission. In fact there is a bit of a vibration at about 45mph. Sounds like a muffled water pump going bad or a throw out bearing. The transmission seems a bit strained when shifting also. Anyone have a clue?

Check your drive shafts first, how often do you lube them and have you replaced the 2 bad front u-joints?
Have you geted your diffs and t/case for fluid, when were they last serviced?
Noise is most likely not the tranny, try driving with the t/case in low range, any difference?
Don't drive it till you can get it to your mechanic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Guys. Disco Mike I read some of your other posts on this subject. I think you are absolutely right. Will shut it down and get it hauled to a mechanic ASAP! Thank you again, Redhawk
