Default transporting a canoe...help!

hey everyone,
my buddy and i recently started canoeing. what is the best system to carry a canoe on top of my 2003 disco se? i have the racks that come standard that run length wise but nothing connecting the two across the center. thank you much!

There should be some removable centre pieces (3 or 4 I think) which are stashed under the rear seats in a long thin bag. They attach very easily using spring clips and the little holes in the rack that you will see.

Just fold the seats forward and they should be there...also in the bag will be the tire iron.
