Default tres amigos

We went out today so I took the D2 for an airing to see whether the "tres amigos" appeared..................nothing, not even "amigos uno"................. pour quoi? Yesterday there were three and today none and the codes yesterday showed "1304 ABS shuttle valve electrical failure", I'm seriously baffled . Has this gone away or is it a temporary respite?......I never get that lucky!

Most likely it is either the wire for the shuttle valves are starting to short out due to brake fluid contamination. On mine It started intermittently but then would never shut off.

The two small o-rings eventual give out and brake fluid will leak on the wires that control the shuttle. With mine the fluid had eaten one entire wire.

Other issue could be the solder pins have broken loose and when you hit a bump etc it looses connection and you get the amigos. This is cured by either resoldering the connections (Major Pain in the ****!) or you can do the bypass in the sticky.

My recommendation is to do both while you are in there.

Thanks ralphobell, I'll check out the fault codes again tomorrow and take a closer look at the Wabco modulator. It sounds like an internal wiring issue probably similar to yours. Reading the LR bulletin LTB00060 it appears there is a test procedure for external connections then if all appears OK it then delves deeper into the Wabco modulator and replaces the shuttle valve solenoid pack (8 bolt fixing) and then the shuttle valve switch pack (3 bolts) Being a cheapskate I'll replace the switch pack first and check whether there is any excessive brake fluid leaking (some brake fluid is expected but not very much it appears) if there is it looks like a bigger job. If this solves the problems I'll pass for the time being on replacing the shuttle valve solenoid pack. If all fails I'll revert to the sticky for the fix on there. Many thanks, I'll post the results later.

Replace my shuttle valve today - got tired of seeing the 3 "you know whats" coming on intermittantly.
