Tricky Dick - Ticking From Pulley
So I noticed a ticking sound that increased in frequency as RPMs increased.
I did some poking around and I can feel the ticks on the pulley mount below the alternator.
I did check the valve cover and exhaust manifold but, couldn't feel the ticks there. Only on the pulley mount and a slight amount on the alternator.
Questions are:
Is this as simple and replacing the pulley or is this a sign of something else?
Has this happen to others?

Have you removed your belt yet and rotated each pulley by hand yet? Majority of the pulleys/idllers have replacable bearings, alt and H2O/hyd pump(s) are solidly attached to their shaft. Your tick could be from alt bearings.

i have not rotated by hand yet, that will be my next step once I wrap up my other project
Update...
While wrapping up another project (removal of heating plate/ exhaust leak) I noticed that the serpentine belt had a large chunk missing. I just replaced the old with this new one about 1,000 miles ago. Luckily I saved the old one.
Next steps...
Remove bad belt
Check each pulley for any wobble or resistance

It was the serpentine belt (see below)
I also checked each pulley and no play easy to move forward and backwards. For good measure I hit all the pulleys with a scot brite pad.
Tick is gone, just need to order a new serpentine belt, odd how the new went bad so quick

from ALLMAKES! And +1 Avoid the Goodyear/Conti belts.
PLEASE get a GATES Belt and get back to HAPPY TOWN.
You either need a #K017065 if your truck has AC and ACE
OR #K070922 if you have AC and No ACE. You can get them online or any NAPA sells Gates Belts.
