Savannah and Mike,
Thanks guys.
I still have 800 miles or so to go.
There is still plenty of time for a calamity.
This is what I get for using my "hobby" vehicle as a daily driver.
It needs to be christened.
It went down like this:
Layoff news on Monday - last day on Friday.
Monday night - clean Saab. Put clothes in Rover.
Tue - video Saab put on Youtube and Craigslist
Tue - put clothes all into the Saab from the rover.
Tue - Wash Rover, shine wheels.
Tue - video Rover.
Tue - put Rover on Craigslist.
Wed - Nigerian scammers writing to me.
Wed - Fellow calls about the Saab. Will see it at 5pm.
Wed - Another Fellow says his Saab taken out by a Deer.
asking tons of questions.
Wed - 2nd fellow is driving his mom's van to beat the 1st guy to see the Saab.
Wed - I am scrambling to clean out all my stuff from the Saab and put it all in the rover.
Wed - 2nd guy gets a flat on the way to see the Saab. he is out 5 miles from Saab location.
Wed I get in the Rover and head out to help him change his flat.
Wed - Guy #1 cancels appt to see the Saab.
Wed Guy #2 first says $3,000 for Saab. Then finds two mirrors don't move in two directions. Offers $2,600. I don't counter and take it.
Wed - Saab sold.
Thursday - worked.
Friday worked. 12pm boss takes me to lunch. That was nice.
1pm boss says I am free to go. I get into the rover and the trip from Denver to Ogden UT commences. Picked Ogden as I really like it here.
Sat - in hotel lazy. Gotta run 2 miles on the tread mill.
May go to Park City, UT.
Sun - drive to Seattle.
I wanted to put more transmission fluid into the Rover. I bet it needs a quart or so more.
I need to get under there and look at everything.
Guys - deep thanks!

I suggest going to either 2 places to get the driveshaft looked at. A) Great basin rovers in Salt Lake. Talk to Bill or his daughter. I'm sure they would help you out if you told them your story. B) Worse case scenario you have to stop at the land rover centerville dealer..
Can you lock your cdl nut on this and remove the front drive shaft??
On a side note, park city is one of my favorite places. Its a lot of fun there.

I booked a hotel and am going to drive SLOW to Park City.
Heading all the advice.
I don't need to drop a shaft and spear my transmission on my beloved
hobby Disco turned daily driver.
In hindsight, this truck was NOT READY for a trip anywhere.
When I fixed the head gaskets, I should have known that there were driveline problems.
I could feel a vibration and a hum when driving from Boulder to Westminster on the 36.
I'll post some pictures of the components in question.
