the truck that wouldn't start.
over the last year i barely drive the '01 disco ii we have. the battery was dead everytime i went to drive it, understandable.
F.L. decided after we charged it he wasn't going to hook it up.
yesterday, three months later, we hooked the battery up and it honked like normal, we shut it off with the fob and i started it up after hitting the unlock button on the fob while the key was in the ignition. our normal routine.
i drove it around and everything was great. i parked it and turned it off and it wouldn't release the key.
after searching, some suggested it was the dreaded superlock feature, which i turn on all the time because i like pushing the fob multiple times and it drives F.L. nuts and i have never had a problem turning it off before.
so we do our normal disabling and all the tricks we found on the interwebs and nothing.
we decided to call lr of portland to see if they could help and after talking to them the service manager finally said "sometimes they don't think they're in park so ya gotta slam it into park".
well he was right. the red leds on the gear shift don't illuminate and neither does the gear display.
F.L. read that it's more than likely the x-y-z sensor.
however, the windows, seats, hazards, intermittent wiper setting or the heated seats don't work. i read that the fuse box has a tendency to have loose wires or corrosion.
i was wondering if we've been blessed with just these two problems or if anyone has experienced the same symptoms and it ended up being something entirely seperate?
we now disconnect the battery to release the key and lock the truck. so, i guess we'll start the sensor and fuse checking this weekend.
thanks for your input.

took the passenger compartment fuse box apart and there was some minor corrosion. cleaned it, plugged it back in and yay the dome lights worked when the door was open.
nothing else works however.
f.l. tested fuse link 8 and it seems to be working and after searching the electrical library it seems all of the problems are associated with C0663 on the BCU.
my assumption is the problem lies somewhere between the engine compartment fuse box and C0663 on the BCU.
no gear selector
no hazard lights
no power seats
no intermittent wipers
no power windows
hmmm.
