Default Try to start truck but alarm goes off 2001 Discovery II

I'm trying to start my truck but the alarm goes off until I hit the unlock button. It happened this morning hit unlock on remote, jumped in, put key in ignition, turned, alarm went off car won't start. Any suggestion's?? Please.

Turn the key to position 2 (leave it in) leave the driver window and door open, then unplug the battery. Wait a few minutes and reconnect the battery. That has worked for me, anyway.

I had my 500.00 03 D2 parts truck go off after I had the battery disconnected for a few minutes. I tried rolling the window down, and leaving all the doors closed (only to find out the drivers door lock was broken). So I go inside and tried to crank it with all the doors shut and it tripped the anti start crap. Then with the key in the start position I turned on/off the headlights and the red light on the gauge cluster stopped flashing and bingo it started right up.

Never have had that happen before but it worked.

Dragging this thread alive again.

I’m having a similar issue. I park my ‘04 for a few weeks at a time. I’ve been using a battery disconnect screw to stop all my added on nonsense draining the battery.

Battery reads 12.5v, screw in disconnect, unlock car, no crank - horn barking like a crazed dog.

Oddly, attach a jump pack it started right up.

Brand new battery, AZ checked it out as good.

Is this a known issue, is there a standard way around it? I also get a rapidly flashing red light on the dash.

Is the car complaining about being stood with no battery attached for 4 weeks?

Any advice greatly received.

I’ve got a Nanocom if there is any way to disable the non-start ‘feature’?

Put a multimeter on it. Try starting. While turning key to crank it, what is the voltage?

Question...
Jump pack, are you putting the clamps onto the battery terminals?
If so, are the terminals loose or not seated perfectly, which when you put the clamps on them, disturbs the clamp enough for it to crank?

Harbor freight has a 12v solar panel you plug into the cigarette lighter. It may not work for your rover as the cigarette lighters turn off with the key, but you could add clamps the the plug end and attach it straight to your battery.

Thanks for the reply.

Cranks at 10.8v tested by AZ. They said 11v is usual, but 10.8 shouldn’t be too low.

Yes, jump pack on the terminals. Never thought of ill fitting clamps. New battery was installed by AZ about 4 weeks ago (was out of town and the wife took it.) So, I’d hope they are tight.

I tried one of those crappy solar panels. I wired the cigarette lighter to be live all the time. Never worked. Could have been a sub standard panel.
