The other day I was doing a bit of off-roading in my discovery and I ended up tipping into some trees due to a foolish mistake I made. I’m hoping to have it fixed due to how well I have this one running and the amount of mechanical work I’ve put into it recently. Not concerned with it being very pretty, that was never my goal, but something I can take on any road in the world. Looking to buy large roof basket so dents shouldn’t be super noticeable anyways.

Ouch, but the damage and amount of work might be more than it would be to find another and keep this as a parts car.

That stinks. That's the kind of damage that definitely totals a D2 on an insurance claim and is tough to fix yourself. I'd buy another one and swap every good part from yours over to it and keep a parts rig.

On the other hand... you could replace the drivers side mirror (easy), alpine light (not expensive really), and the windshield (may have an A pillar issue there) and not worry about cosmetics and be 100% fine.

X2 on body swap if you don't want it looking like a trail rig. Some like that look.

if you're a good welder/fab guy you could repair it however if you had the needed know how/equipment/tools you wouldn't be on here asking.

If you're in the south east I have access to a good clean white body. The better half's rig is the dark green color so the body is useless to me.

I think the easiest thing to do is going to find a good example with a bad motor for cheap, and swap everything you like over. hold onto your current disco for parts. Otherwise, if you have the abilities, just cut the roof off, cage it, and have a soft top made for it. that's what most guys seem to do that wheel that hard, mistake or not.

If you're extremely handy, then you could buy a wrecked disco and cut the A-Pillars out, remove the roof (it's spot welded along the sunroof drains) and then weld in a new a pillars and roof. too bad the roof isn't bolted on like the RRC.

sorry to see it. hope you figure something out that works for you. I didn't think it was too bad until I saw the a pillar. I wouldn't trust that in another rollover or a highway accident with that crumpled metal. you might want an exo cage at least on the next one.

I don't think I've seen a chopped d2, definitely seen a few d1s and classics. Looks like OP is in maine so that would be a cold ride the majority of the time lol

there are a few around on disco web and a few on google. The rear door and taillights make it a little finicky unless you want really get into some metalwork.
