Default Turn Over but does not start - could it be the Battery

D2 will turn over but no start

Did get a P1232 code - fuel pump short to ground

Anybody ever experienced this before - any help would be appreciated

Been having symptoms for a while of it stalling and no starting sometimes

- changed Crank Position Sensor changed before I got this code (6 months ago)
- switched out the inertia switch on wednesdsy
- tried out a few fuel pump relays, so do not believe that is the problem
- have the ultra gauge installed and it sometimes loses connectivity and losses gauge readings

Plan to look at engine relay box tomorrow - clean and look for any issues - if someone has advice I would love to hear it.

First place I would look is at the fuel pump itself. could be shorted out, or wiring at connector .

Thanks for the suggestion -- will take a look tomorrow.

This one is driving me nuts -- It comes and goes, but currently not going.

Default Rover Turns Over but does not start - Could battery cause this

So today I hooked up the battery charger since I had with down the battery trying to start it.

Noticed on the ultragauge that it showed the intake temp at about 30 degrees when outside was 60 - so battery voltage is effecting readings.

After charging the rover started, so now I am off fuel pump qand on either of these causing my problems:
1. CPS that I installed in may is bad
Or
2. Battery is causing the stalling and failure to start (even though it turns over)

Can a battery that is turns over the engine not have enough volts to get good readings for the CPS to allow the vehicle to start

You can check the cps with a OBD2 scanner. Switch the scanner to line input and check the RPMs, if the rpm while cranking = 0 the cps is bad.

Unfortunately I do not believe my odbii scanner does that - will need to check if the ultragauge will check rpm's while starting the vehicle (it generally only comes to life after the car has started.

I am contemplating getting a new battery to see if that helps - current battery is at the end of its life so not really a bad expense.
