Default Two Rovers with different cooling options?

I have two land rovers. My son wrecked one and I bought another one. The first one has two small radiators behind the main radiator the other one only has one small radiator behind the main radiator. The one that my son wrecked has the two small radiators. One set of lines go to the transmission the other set of lines looks like it goes to the oil pump or maybe an oil cooler of some sort. On the other LanRover only one set for the transmission the set that is on the oil pump/cooler is blocked off does anybody know why one LanRover would have it blocked off and the other LanRover would have it go into a radiator? See the picture for details. Can other land rover owners tell me if they do or do not have it and or if it is needed?

Btw both Disco's are 2002 models.

They deleted the oil coiler at VIN 2A753562 (sometime in the 2002 model year).

Well I'm using the engine that does have it but on a deleted radiator so my next question is is there a difference and is it needed?

Short answer is that it's a nice-to-have, but not necessary. If you can accommodate it, great. If not, don't lose sleep.

Every 4.6 D2 came from the factory without an oil cooler.

A previous owner of your sons truck removed the oil cooler because the lines were leaking or it became plugged and dropped the oil pressure. Just a cheap way of "fixing" a problem. Not my idea of a repair. Do yourself a favor by getting another one from a recycle or EBay. Best route is used with both supply and return lines, then a set of new O-rings where they hook up to the engine.
