Default Which type of timing Cover Gasket? Cork, Rubber, Composition

Hello All,
As the weather is getting better I am getting more motivated for round 2 on trying to stop my persistent oil leak and slight coolant leak from the front of my engine. While replacing my water pump, I'm going to replace the timing cover gasket. Which is best to use for the timing cover gasket?? The factory LR looks to be composition(synthetic cork) or there is a Euro Spare that is rubber. I plan on using some Hi Tack Permatex to hold it in place while fitting it back on the block any other suggestions would be appreciated. I have the RAVE. This will be the deepest I have dug in to the rover. Other than the CDL upgrade/install.

For anyone else that has completed this. Did this stop your oil leak? I have replaced the crankshaft seal and oil sump gasket. All I can think of now is timing cover and a little leak of coolant from the water pump gasket. With 95k on my Rover its time. Price is not an issue since they are both cheap. I just want the best one available.

Hey bosshogt...I used the factory LR composition gaskets and I have zero oil leaks (then of course I have replaced just about every other gasket as well!)...I replaced them about 14K miles ago around the 60K mark.

Thanks mwindth

Thats good to hear. When I got done with the crankseal and oil sump gasket, I was excited to check for leaks the next day. Dang Dang Dang! a good stream coming straight from the front of the oil pan, just like before. So I'm figuring timing cover gasket. Its about the only seal left! Other than that O ring on the oil filter housing. And that's not leaking! I did torque the water pump bolts to 22nm, but that did not stop my slow drip. I can feel the lip of the gasket crushed out beyond the water pump housing. So that is over.
