Yes, three positive engagements will be felt when putting convertor in.

Just keep the bell-housing end higher than tail shaft end, while transporting and installing. During installation, once you get the bell-housing just about touching engine...then will you start to adjust the trans so it is level and mates up smoothly. If the nose of the trans happens to drop lower than rear of trans and you heard any type of clunk, stop and check convertor. Putting it back in while horizonal is easier if you lower tail shaft end and lift convertor slightly, rotate and push inward...it's a feel thing. If you are unsure, measure distance between trans bell-housing mating surface and front of convertor, now, and make sure you have that same measurement while installing.

Ok start tomorrow morning on this. But do I need to take out the center counsel and the plate to do this?

I've done the Trans/TC removal without removing the console. Use a small but long wood screw in on of the inspection plate cover bolt holes (3 of them), and one will let the screw up and and sit in front of the TC keeping it from moving. then when you get close to stabbing it in simply remove it.
