Ultimate Compliment
Since we here in the states are cursed with no diesel option the snorkel is mainly for looks and dusty roads more than water crossings. It will definitely turn heads in a parking lot. On a D1 especially, if the water is deep enough to get sucked into the stock air box your ECU is under water and you're screwed anyways. I have thought about finding a second ECU for cheap and having it waterproofed as an experiment to see if actually works but I don't want to sacrifice my original ECU in case it doesn't work.

I used to never see Discoverys.. Now that I have them I see them everywhere...
As for Walmart.. I used to shop there..
Now I make a Concerted Effort not to.. Why??
Imagine the future when there is no other place to shop but Walmart...
Now I spend my money at an Oklahoma Owned Grocer, I spend less each week and am not getting any thinner.

I used to notice Discovery once in a while before I bought mine. Now I see them everywhere.
The Lucky 8 is the site I was thinking of just couldn't remember the name. Even with their demonstration that is pretty convincing I don't know if I want to put all my eggs in one basket like that. That's why I was thinking a second ECU to be waterproofed. Plus that would mean no downtime while the waterproofing and shipping back and forth happens.
I'm pretty sure the last thing I will buy for my Discovery will be gas. As long as I own it I can't imagine ever getting to the point where I look at the truck and say it's done, I'm not going to change another thing. About the time I think that I'm sure it will be time to start the next round of repairs and replacing parts.

RE: Walmart
Wal-Mart wanted to sell Snapper lawn mowers in such large quantities and wanted product so cheap, the only way to supply them would be to move to China.
The owner knew that would destroy the lives of everyone who worked for him and lower the quality of his product so he told them no and kept his factory in America.
Don't buy disposable lawn mowers. Don't by plastic crap that will never degrade and pollutes both here and the country it was made in. By well built American products any time you can. Except of course your 4x4s. Buy those from the British.

I have a Snapper walk behind self propelled lawn mower, bought it from a independant Snapper dealer going on 15 years ago now.
The Briggs & Stratton engine gave me so much trouble that I wound up buying a disposable lawnmower with a Honda engine 5 years ago, swapped the engines and sold the "new" mower with my old engine for $50.
Bought the whole "new" mower for under $200, a Honda engine alone would have cost me almost $500.
I LOVE my Snapper mower.
Change the oil every spring, grease the differential every spring, E3 spark plug that is 4 years old and she fires right up on the first pull, even after sitting all winter.
You want cheap, you will get cheap, and lead based paint, and out of work Americans.
T-shirts for $3 made by kids in China, or t-shirts for $5 made by Americans.
I'll pay the $5.

Dielectric grease will take care of most problems and then there is just the little holes for draining the ECU and I use silicone for that and the seams.
I have driven across the Rio Grand once,, water was about 6" from the bottom of the window.
For the most part the dust is the problem,, where I live.
